How to Schedule Pinterest Pins (Native vs API, 2026)
Pinterest lets business accounts queue 10 Pins up to 30 days ahead. Here's the native way, its limits, and how to schedule further out via API.

Short answer: If you have a Pinterest business account, you can schedule a Pin when you create it. Choose Publish at a later date and pick a day and time up to 30 days ahead. Pinterest lets you have up to 10 Pins scheduled at once, and you schedule them one at a time (Pinterest Help). If you need more than 10 in the queue or want to plan further ahead, use a scheduler or an API. This guide covers both, with a working API example.
Key Takeaways
| Point | Details |
|---|---|
| Native scheduling | Business accounts only, up to 30 days ahead, up to 10 Pins scheduled at once |
| After scheduling | You can change date, title, board, description and link, but not the image or video |
| Via the Status 200 Uploads API | Up to 365 days ahead, with pinterest.boardId required on every Pin |
| Media through our API | Image Pins only, up to 20 MB, 2:3 recommended |
| Plan | Pinterest is on every plan, the Free plan included |
How to schedule a Pin natively (desktop)
From Pinterest's own Schedule Pins help page:
- Log in to your Pinterest business account.
- Click Create at the top left, then Create Pin.
- Upload an image or video. You can select up to 10 images, and each image becomes its own Pin.
- Fill in the Pin's details, then select Publish at a later date and choose the day and time.
- Finish creating the Pin.
Your scheduled Pins appear on your profile, above your published Pins. Pinterest notes it "may take a few minutes" for them to show up.
How to schedule a Pin in the Pinterest app
Per the same help page:
- Open the app, log in to your business account, tap the plus icon and choose Pin.
- Select one or more images or videos. In the app, several files are stitched together into a single video Pin.
- Tap Next, edit if you want, and fill in the details.
- Next to Schedule date, choose the date and time, tap Done, then Schedule, and confirm.
The native limits, in one table
| Limit | Pinterest's rule | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Business account | Personal accounts don't get the option |
| How far ahead | Up to 30 days | Seasonal content waits in your own calendar until it's in range |
| Queue | Up to 10 Pins scheduled for the future | Two Pins a day fills the queue in five days |
| Pace | One Pin scheduled at a time | No bulk scheduling in the native flow |
| Edits | Date, title, board, description and link | A wrong image means deleting and recreating the Pin |
To delete a scheduled Pin, go to your profile, open the ellipsis menu on the Pin and select Delete (Pinterest Help).
When native scheduling isn't enough
The 10-Pin queue and 30-day window are fine for a few Pins a week. They get tight when you:
- publish more than a couple of Pins a day,
- plan seasonal boards weeks in advance,
- want Pins to go out alongside the same content on other networks, or
- build Pins automatically from a product feed, a sheet or an n8n workflow.
That's where a scheduler with an API helps.
Schedule Pinterest Pins with the Status 200 Uploads API
Pinterest is on every Status 200 Uploads plan, the Free plan included, and the REST API is too (pricing).
Step 1: Get your board id
Every Pinterest post needs a board. Ask the API which boards your connected account has:
curl 'https://status200uploads.com/api/v2/accounts/YOUR_PROFILE_ID/options?platforms=pinterest' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer rl_your_api_key'
The answer lists your boards (id, name, privacy, Pin count), with a note to "Send one of these ids as post.pinterest.boardId" (API docs).
Step 2: Prepare the image
Through our API, Pinterest takes image Pins only, up to 20 MB, and the recommended aspect ratio is 2:3 (file limits). For a Pin scheduled more than a few hours ahead, import the file first with POST /api/v2/media and use its file_id. A mediaUrls address is fetched only when the post goes out, so the file has to still be online then (API docs).
Step 3: Schedule the Pin
curl -X POST 'https://status200uploads.com/api/v2/posts' \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer rl_your_api_key' \
-H 'Idempotency-Key: pin-autumn-recipes-01-pinterest' \
-d '{
"post": {
"accountId": "@myshop",
"platform": "pinterest",
"scheduledFor": "2026-11-20T19:00:00+01:00",
"content": {
"text": "15-minute autumn soup",
"mediaID": ["YOUR_FILE_ID"]
},
"pinterest": {
"boardId": "YOUR_BOARD_ID",
"description": "A quick, warming soup for weeknights.",
"altText": "Bowl of orange pumpkin soup on a wooden table"
}
}
}'
What the API reference says about this request:
pinterest.boardIdis required. Without it the Pin is refused withpinterest_board_required.content.textbecomes the Pin's title, andpinterest.descriptionits description.scheduledForneeds a time zone. More than 60 seconds ahead returns 202scheduled, up to 365 days ahead, with at most 500 posts waiting per account.- Add
"dryRun": truefirst to run every check without sending anything. - Keep the
Idempotency-Keythe same on a retry. Sending a scheduled request again without it schedules the Pin twice. - A video Pin is refused through the API, because Pinterest Pins through us are image-only.
- Cancel with
DELETE /api/v2/posts/{scheduled_post_id}before it goes out. There's no edit endpoint yet, so cancel and schedule again.
Step 4: Check what went out
Once a Pin is published, GET /api/v2/posts?platform=pinterest lists it with its status and permalink on pinterest.com (API docs).
Let an AI app or n8n do it
- AI apps (MCP): on paid plans from Beginner, an app like Claude can connect to
https://mcp.status200uploads.com/mcp. It getsstatus200_get_posting_options, which reads your Pinterest boards, plusstatus200_validate_postandstatus200_schedule_post(API docs). - n8n, Make or Zapier: call the same endpoint from an HTTP node. Build the
Idempotency-Keyfrom the item and the network (for example{{ $json.id }}-pinterest), never from the time, so a retry never double-posts (API docs).
For the general setup across networks, see how to automate social media posting. Running a community too? Here's how to schedule Skool posts.
A weekly Pinterest routine
- Export your Pins at 2:3, under 20 MB.
- Pick the board for each one (from the options call).
- Dry-run, then schedule the week, leaving at least a minute between Pins. Our docs warn that posts due within 20 seconds of each other on one network go out back to back, and a network can refuse posts that arrive that close (API docs).
- Check
GET /api/v2/posts?platform=pinterestfor the links once they're out.
