Hootsuite Alternatives 2026: What You Pay Instead
Hootsuite starts at $99 per user a month. What Sprout Social, Later, Buffer, Publer and Status 200 Uploads charge instead, from their own pages.

Short answer: Hootsuite's cheapest plan is Standard at $99 per user a month, billed annually, for up to 10 social accounts. If you are one person or a small team that mainly schedules posts, Buffer, Publer, Later and Status 200 Uploads all start far lower, and Sprout Social starts at $79 per seat a month. If you need Hootsuite's unified inbox and social listening, the cheaper tools in this list don't replace that. Every price below is from each vendor's own pricing page, checked on 29 October 2026.

What Hootsuite costs in 2026
Hootsuite's plans page says: "Paid plans start at $99 for a Standard plan, $199 for a Professional plan, and range up to $399 for an Advanced plan." The prices are per person: "Hootsuite plans are sold per user (or "seat")", and they are "based on annual billing". Standard lets you "Manage up to 10 social media accounts from one calendar"; Professional and Advanced have unlimited accounts.
For that, Standard includes a unified inbox, analytics and reporting, competitive benchmarking and social listening. That is the real reason to pay Hootsuite's price. If you only schedule and publish, you are paying for tools you don't use.

Example: schedule a post through the API
Moving off Hootsuite often means moving a scheduling script, too. With Status 200 Uploads, one HTTPS request schedules a post. scheduledFor takes "an ISO 8601 date and time with a time zone", up to 365 days ahead:
curl -X POST 'https://status200uploads.com/api/v2/posts' \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-H 'Authorization: Bearer rl_your_api_key' \
-d '{
"post": {
"accountId": "@yourprofile",
"platform": "linkedin",
"scheduledFor": "2026-11-02T09:00:00+01:00",
"content": { "text": "Our November schedule is live." }
}
}'
The answer is 202 with a scheduled_post_id. To cancel the post before it goes out, send DELETE https://status200uploads.com/api/v2/posts/{scheduled_post_id} with the same key. Text-only posts work on Threads, X, LinkedIn, Skool and Facebook; the other networks need media. The full reference is in our API documentation.
