# Post to social media from Claude Code

Canonical: https://status200uploads.com/integrations/claude-code

Checked on 26 October 2026.

Add our MCP server to Claude Code with one command, sign in in your browser, and Claude Code can post and schedule to the networks you connected, from your terminal. It can also post a video or an image that is on your computer: it asks for a one-time private upload link, runs our small uploader, and the file is checked (exact size, type and SHA-256) before it is posted. Files up to 5 GB.

Tested on 9 October 2026 with Claude Code.

## What you need

- Included in every paid plan, from Beginner.
- **Claude Code:** Claude Code installed on your computer: the uploader runs there, so a file on that computer can be posted.
- **Server address:** https://mcp.status200uploads.com/mcp. No key to copy: Claude Code signs in to it (OAuth 2.1), and we recognise it by its client id.
- **Connected networks:** Connect each network once in the Status 200 Uploads dashboard under Connections; Claude Code posts from those profiles only.
- **Files from your computer:** Videos up to 5 GB (MP4, MOV or WebM) and JPEG, PNG or WebP images, within one daily upload budget per account that grows with the plan. Each network's own limit still applies when you post. [File limits of every network](https://status200uploads.com/docs/file-limits)

## Steps

1. **Add the server** In a terminal, run: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user status200 https://mcp.status200uploads.com/mcp. With --scope user the server is there in every project on your computer; leave it out to add it to the current project only.
2. **Sign in** Start Claude Code, type /mcp, pick status200 and follow the steps in your browser. Our page says "We recognise this app": sign in, keep "Post and schedule for you" switched on, choose how long the connection lasts (30, 60 or 90 days, or until you disconnect), and click Allow.
3. **Check that it works** Ask "List my Status 200 accounts". Claude Code asks before it runs a tool; allow it. You see your profiles and the networks connected to each.
4. **Post a file from your computer** Give Claude Code the path of the file and say where it should go. It asks for an upload link, runs our uploader on the file (it asks you before it runs the command), finishes the upload, and then posts the file by its file id.

## What it can do

- **A file on your computer:** Asks for a one-time private upload link, runs our uploader, and finishes the upload once the file has arrived with the exact size, type and SHA-256 it announced (status200_create_upload_link, status200_finish_upload). Nothing is put on a public site on the way.
- **A file from your media library:** Finds a file you uploaded in the dashboard under Media by its name and posts it by its file id (status200_list_media).
- **A file from a web address:** Imports a video or an image from a public address and waits until it is ready (status200_upload_media_from_url, status200_get_media_status).
- **Your accounts and their options:** Lists your profiles and connected networks, and reads what each network allows (status200_list_accounts, status200_get_posting_options, status200_get_usage).
- **Check, publish and schedule:** Checks a post without sending it, publishes it, or schedules it, and can change or cancel a scheduled post before it goes out (status200_validate_post, status200_publish_post, status200_schedule_post, status200_update_scheduled_post, status200_cancel_scheduled_post).
- **After it goes out:** Reads your posts and how each went, sends a failed post again, and reads the numbers a post earned (status200_get_post, status200_list_posts, status200_retry_post, status200_get_post_performance).

## A worked example: a video from your computer to YouTube

A request like this one sent a large video from a computer to YouTube through an upload link in October 2026.

Prompt: "Upload C:\Videos\EP01.mp4 and post it to YouTube as a public video with the title "Episode 1"."

Claude Code measured the file and asked for an upload link with status200_create_upload_link, ran our uploader on it after you allowed the command, and called status200_finish_upload, which checked the size, type and SHA-256. Then it published the video with status200_publish_post. A YouTube upload is processed after the answer, so the app reads it back with status200_get_post until it is done.

## Troubleshooting

**/mcp shows status200 as needing authentication.** You have not signed in yet, or the connection length you chose has ended. Pick status200 in /mcp and follow the steps in your browser again.

**The upload link is refused with plan_limit_reached.** Upload links and the AI connector are included in every paid plan, from Beginner. On Free, upload the file in the dashboard under Media.

**The upload is refused with upload_rejected.** The file that arrived did not match the size, type or SHA-256 that was announced. If the file changed during the upload, ask for a new link and upload it again.

**The answer is import_budget_exhausted.** The account has used its daily budget for upload links and imports by connected apps. Try again the next day, or upload the file in the dashboard under Media, which has no such budget.

**The answer is upload_links_paused.** Upload links are paused for a while. Upload the file in the dashboard under Media, then ask Claude Code to find it by its name and post it.

**Claude Code asks who should see the post.** That is on purpose: a TikTok post needs a privacy level and a YouTube video a privacy status, and the connector refuses to choose them for you. Say it in your request.

## Questions

### Can Claude Code post a file that is on my computer?

Yes, on a paid plan. It asks for a one-time private upload link, runs our uploader, and the file is checked (exact size, type and SHA-256) before it can be posted. Nothing is put on a public site on the way.

### Do I need an API key?

No. Claude Code signs in to the server in your browser, and we recognise it by its client id, so it can post once you allow it. A key in the server entry would give only a smaller set of 5 tools.

### Which plan do I need?

The AI connector is included in every paid plan, from Beginner. Upload links are on the paid plans too, within one daily budget per account.

### Can I use it in every project?

Yes. Add the server with --scope user and it is there in every project on your computer. Without it, Claude Code adds the server to the current project only.

### Which files can it upload?

MP4, MOV and WebM videos and JPEG, PNG and WebP images. A file is refused before anything is uploaded if its type is not one of these.

### How do I disconnect Claude Code?

In the Status 200 Uploads dashboard, open API: every connected app is listed there, and Disconnect cuts Claude Code off at once. claude mcp remove status200 removes the server from Claude Code as well.
